Pronunciation Anyone?

Having actually attended a French school for a few years, I can say with authority that this word:  “Voila,” is pronounced with a V in the beginning of the word.  That’s a V.  Voila, not a W.   Why everyone seems to go for the W is beyond me! Just one of those quirky, contagious mistakes, I guess.   So, it’s Voila! It means: “There it is” or “There you are.” As when you do a magic trick and it’s successful: you could say, Voila! (I did it, it’s done! Here it is!)   (For pronunciation of Voila, you know where to go:   your phone, of course.)

Poignant

This word sounds like just what it is:   sad, full of regret. Poignant! It stands for words from the heart, such as:   moving, pathetic, and touching. The word “poignant” itself touches us, it gets through our crusty exteriors and binds to our souls, if we let it. A politician, of whom I did not approve, just recently retired, and the look on his face (his sadness so evident, no matter what he did while in office), was poignant!

I have two juicy words to tell you about…

But unfortunately, I already forgot one of them! So, I better tell you about the other one quick! Loquacious .  It calls to mind all sorts of wonderful possibilities. But all it means is: “tending to talk a lot; that is, full of excessive talk.” (Which can be a positive or negative thing.) Some synonyms are: chatty and talkative. This word is pronounced as:  LUH+KWAY+SHUHS (A guide just in case.)   That’s it! But somehow, I expected more.
